Optimistic, from Absinthe films just came out and the song "Calling for the Dissolution" is set to some epic snowboarding from Wolfgang Nyvelt and Matt Beardmore . Scott also has few audio clips in the DVD bonus as well.
Another Snowboard film that just came out that has some of Scotts songs in it is called IN SHORT and was produced by David Benedek who has also made "91 Words for Snow". The 2 tracks in that movie are in the Japan section and are called " Catholic Guilt" and "The Hard Truth". They are both home made demo versions of songs that will be on the upcoming album to be released early 2008.

Just got back from the end of the Absinthe Film and Music tour of the Western US. The Northwest rocked! as the dream band was in place with Pete and Matt Remine and Sean Donnell banging the drums. We started in Bellingham after only 1 feverish night of practice and were felling pretty warmed up by the time we hit Portland at the Alladin Theater. Not quite as gigantic as the night before in Bellingham at the Mt. Baker Theater but a way cooler place to play for us. We backtracked to Seattle for some Friday night action at the old Premier Club , I think its called the Phoenix now or something. It was a great show though , the band was on and there were lots of good friends and faces in the crowd. Snowboarding rulers like Travis Rice , Marc Frank Montoya and Kurt Wastell were all there adding to the celebration. I had a few days break after that and then on solo acoustic, which after having a band behind me felt a bit empty , but alas the show must go on. Whereas the sets with the band ended up being pretty rocking with songs like Parachute, T in this Town , and Mumbo Jumbo the acoustic sets took some adjustment to bring it back down to the old git and vocals, songs like Scarlet Utopia, and Empire worked well for that . Salt Lake and Reno were some of the standouts for that leg of the tour up until San Francisco where Matt Remine and Chris Evans came to town for the last night of the tour and we rocked out again at the Independent. It was a great way to end the tour, and I guess the gods must've been happy with the work we did because the next day as we began our slow drive down the coast the waves began to pick up and it ended up being one of the best and strongest south swells of the season. Thanks to Chris for bringin me a board and a suit up from Laguna. We got lucky enough to score epic Ocean Beach for a few days before surfing along the way all the way down to Rincon. I had gotten really good at staying up late over the last month but not so good at paddling , so it felt great to get back in the water even if it meant getting beat down by the surf for a few. Its the best way to work it out anyhow I figure.
Anyhow, Ive got all the songs written for the new cd and started this weekend recording all of the demos. Not sure where I'll be doing the final recordings of this one , but the Remine brothers are sure to be involved... luckily. Right now though its just gonna be me with Pro Tools and the old Mbox for a few as I get all the songs in place and figure out which ones will make the cut. I'll try and keep you all posted as I make some progress with that . thanks for checkin in . ....... sct

Hello All, things have been going really well so far on the Absinthe Films " Spere of Influence " tour. We had some great shows over in Switzerland most notably in Zurich at the Kaufleuten . It was an amazing venue and the house was packed. Fuel TV was there filming for one of their shows and the band tore into a strong 40 minute set beginning with the acoustic version of Scarlet Utopia and finishing with the rockin cut Parachute. Chris Evans played the drums and Matt remine held it together with his Bass skills. It was definitely one of the funnest shows Ive done and the fun went well into the wee hours. Backstage got ugly as the night went on as Euro madmen like Romain De Marchi and Drew Stevenson were on hand to show us how they really like to mix it up over there. Stateside rulers Sean Lake and Sammy Willis were doing their best to dodge the flying bottles, and rolls of toilet paper that eventually left the room covered in broken glass and toilet paper. Bassman Matt Remines guitar case still has shards of glass stuck to it 2 weeks later.

HI , Its early august now.. damn time is flying.. lot of stuff happening here at HQ. Ive teamed up with Absinthe Films to do a compilation cd release of mine that will go along with their new snowboarding film titled "More" . The DVD is due to release in early septmeber. The cd will be a compilation of 5 songs from each of my cd's the Crushwater Symphony and the Great Manifestiny, plus 2 new demo tracks of songs that will be on my forthcoming cd to be released in early 2007. A couple of good samples from what is to come. Worldwide release for that and it comes free with the DVD. Also on that cd will be a track that I recorded over the winter with my old friend DJ Knucklz while I was out in Salt Lake city . So keep your eyes open in shops for that release.
After the release of the DVD/CD we will be taking to the road with the Absinthe Films crew to do a film premier and live music tour. Check this page for dates and locations of the shows. We are scheduling a 10 day stop in Europe which begins in Zurich , Switzerland on Sept 20th. We are back in North America starting on October 3rd as we roll into Vancouver , Canada for the start. I'll keep you posted as the dates become fixed for the shows.. cheers....sct

The Styles end of season party over in Luzern, Switzerland went off with around 3000 people showing up to get crazy for a night in the big Hockey arena. I played the first set and then the Swiss group Double Pact closed out the bill. It was a great night , with really good sound and giant screens throughout the arena projecting the live music action. I ran into Michi Albin over there for the show and we ended up closing the place down at about 4 am.
Then I headed down to Zurich a couple of days after the show and after I had a good go around in Luzern and ended up at these crazy riots going on in downtown Zurich on the 1st of May . I had heard that people get pretty crazy on that day. Its a holiday to celebrate the workers and it allows for people to come out and have public political speeches ranging from punk rock anarchists to turkish communists... and it brings out the revolutionary in everyone. When I arrived in the main part of town I turned the corner and instantly was greeted by a wall of riot police shooting tear gas into the crowds. People were throwing bottles ,and bricks at the cops and the cops were retaliating with Rubber bullet shotguns and giant water canons to hose everyone back . After a few hours they changed the water in the water canons into not water, but Pepper Spray, and lots of it. Yours truly had a pretty amazing experience on the front lines shooting photos, and I managed to get tear gassed, shot 10 times by the rubber bullets, and then completely hosed down with the pepper spray . yes it hurt, and my body and face burned for hours after I had been hit. Its funny though because I had so much adrenalin going that in the moment it didnt bother me that much . After about 6 hours the police had cornered all the rioters and went to town on everyone , blasting and gassing until everyone had dispersed. In some ways it seemed like a game of chess between the rioters and the cops and whoever had the best startegy at the end of the day would take back control over the streets.
It was an experience that I think I would never witness here in the states. There is too much control and post 9-11 anyone that gets out of line like that is considered a terrorist and the punishments are stiff. There , they are kind of encouraged to lash out for that day. Most people are too scared to go out and make the statement like the punkers and protesters did over there. for one day a year they get to stand up against the system and fight for the social revolution that most only talk about. Its good to see that rebellion is alive and well. The system needs detractors like that to keep things shaken up and to push the system to make changes and not become stagnant...
After the riots were over evrything got all mellow and everyone shifted over to the main park where there were bands, beers and djs unitl the wee hours of the morning. hmmmm.

HI All , I just got back home from 3 months on the road. I was out for a while shooting photos of the Absinthe Films crew of snowboarders. We had a pretty epic month in Utah , where it snowed every 2 or 3 days for the whole month!!! it was by far some of the most snow Ive ever seen out there at Snowbird and the surrounding Salt Lake mntns.. The conditions were great and the weather cooperated by throwing some bountiful sunshine at us after each storm had passed. Absinthe was filming for their upcoming movie which is going to be called MORE. Its due for release in Sept 2006. some of the highlights were Chris Coulter going nuts over a 100 foot plus road gap that hadnt been hit by a snowboarder since the original rider, Jason "rocker" Ray hit it back about 8 years ago . Coulter nailed it along with Forrest Shearer and both got some great tricks over it. Also in Utah this year were two of my favorite riders, Nicolas Muller and Gigi Ruf. They were attacking some amazing natural terrain with so much style and creativity and making the most of the plethora of puffy powder....
I left Utah in early april and headed back to California for a couple of days of surfing and getting reorganized before I took off for Haines, Alaska for my 5th springtime trip to Haines to shoot some more insane Heliboarding action. this time though I got to bring my girl Natalie up there with me and our new little baby girl Flora too. We had her flying in a small 4 person bush plane and she was such a good little travel baby. I love that time of year up there because its the end of the season for the riders and they've been working on their video parts all winter and by this time they are all warmed up and riding at their top level, and really pushing it to try to get the last few banger shots they need to make their vid parts stand out. Its also the time when everybody focuses on riding the natural terrain instead of going out and building big cheese wedge jumps in the backcountry. Alaska is where alot of the progression of snowboarding is happening on the big faces with riders like Travis Rice , Jonaven Moore, Nicolas Muller, Gigi, Wolle Nyvelt and several others in the group mixing technical freestyle with big mountain riding skills . Its reallly exciting to watch and a bit scary as well. The avalanche danger was extremely high this year and there were avalanches and cornices breaking off everywhere. It made it hard to get on the slopes that we wanted to , but at the end of the day mother nature is really the boss and we have to play by her rules. Luckily everyone in our group stayed safe.
We had some pretty epic nights up there as well when I got to play in the Pioneer bar for 3 different shows. The sets lasted form 5 to 7 hours with minimal breaks. I almost went through all of my songs I know. ..... almost... Lots of great people were on hand for the mayhem. the TGR film crew was there and Todd Jones, the man himself, came up and played some mean air guitar with the pool cue .. for about 3 hours..!!! definitely a special event. I fell blessed to have had him as my air guitar player... Also legendary musician and singer from Juneau, Terri Tibbet joined me for the 3rd show , and made the songs sound soooo full and alive. It sucks that I only see her about once every 5 years.. We sure had fun though..
So anyhow. I got out of Alaska in the end of april after a pretty succesful shooting trip and headed home for 2 days before flying over to Luzern Switzerland to play a pretty epic show for the Styles party.. but thats another story........

Hi All, I am out on the wintery road right now and stopped off in Salt Lake City for a while while traveling the western US in search of some good snow and some good snowboard action so I can get some photos. Its been a busy new year so far. Lots of traveling. I recently returned from an epic trip down to the Galapagos where I was helping film a new surf movie called Hydrodynamica. I was hooked up with some great surfers down there like Dave Rastovich, Daniel Thomson and Donavon Frankenreiter. I managed to play a concert down there as well. It was a bit unusual as I was the act following a husband and wife couple, a violinista and a guitarist from the Ecuadorian symphony. they were incredible and the crowd was great. It was quite an experience to be able to play down there and to try and explain my songs to the crowd in Spanish. It all went pretty well.
But now I am back in the cold and enjoying the change. I met up with DJ knucklez in Salt Lake and last we spent a night in the studio recording some cool instumental tracks over some of the beats he had laid down . Its different than what I usually record as it always is when you work with a new person who brings new ideas to the table. We are going to try and do about 3 tracks while I'm in Salt Lake and try to get the tracks to some filmakers to back some epic visuals...
After Salt Lake I'll be heading up to the Seattle area to begin working out my new songs for the next album . Ive already written all of the songs and have sent some of the demos up to Seattle and the next thing to do is to sit down with the gang and try and play the stuff live with them to hear what kind of ideas theyve come up with . This is one of the funnest part of the recording process for me, when I first hear the new ideas and how they change the song from what it started out as.
So that is whats happening right now, I'll be heading up to Alaska in a few weeks where I'll most likely be doing some shows at the Bamboo room in Haines in between shooting some epic Alaskan riding.
Toward the end of April I will be playing some shows over in Europe. I'll post the dates as I get them but for now I have one in Switzerland on April, 29th 2006.
Its the "End Of Season"-Styles in Lucerne, Switzerland.
Okay then , thanks for reading along. see you out there......scotty
